Future NFLer’s Story Reminds Me To Be Grateful
As you probably know, I am an NFL addict. During this offseason, when most of you are watching basketball, baseball, hockey, or, UGH, racing, I’m voraciously reading news on the April Draft, free agents, trades, coaching changes, minicamps, training camps, and cheerleader uniform theory. (Wait, forget that last one.)
Anyway, my favorite columnists include Don Banks of Sports Illustrated. He published an article from this weekend’s NFL Combine about a first round Defensive End prospect named Tamba Hali. Tamba is a native of Liberia and has evidently traveled a perilous journey to survive, let alone advance to the doorstep of NFL riches. If you read Don Bank’s article,
The great escape; Hali travels amazing road to achieve football stardom, you’ll read about a man who knows that the game of football is just that, a game.
We throw around terms like “battle,” ‘warrior,” “hero,” and “do or die” when we talk about these rich men playing football. Read Tamba’s story and you might get a little perspective on life and what’s really “do or die.”
